Wajji Rizvi, the founder of Nohay Writeups, was born and raised in Pakistan before moving to the United States at the age of 15. After relocating, he pursued higher education in the U.S., earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in cybersecurity. He currently resides in the Chicagoland area.
With a lifelong goal of making a positive impact on people’s lives, Wajji was inspired to develop an app that would benefit the Shia community in the long run. In 2015, as technology advanced, he observed that reciters of Salam, Marsiya, Nohay, and Manqabat often struggled to find accurate lyrics, sometimes resorting to writing them down manually. Realizing the need for a centralized and accessible platform, he conceived the idea of an app where these lyrics would be freely available worldwide.
Determined to bring his vision to life, Wajji began working on the Nohay Writeups App while still in college. However, this could not have been achieved without the dedication and efforts of our global team, with members across the United States, Pakistan, India, Germany, and the UK. After dedicating countless hours to development, the iOS version was successfully launched in 2018, followed by the Android version later that year. What started with just 30 active users has now grown exponentially, amassing over 430,000 users in 2024.
Through Nohay Writeups, Wajji has seamlessly blended technology with tradition, ensuring that essential Shia poetry and recitations remain preserved and accessible for future generations.
