ABBAS (as) JO DARIYA SE PALAT KAR NAHI AAYA
SAADAAT KO PHIR CHAIN MAYASSER NAHI AAYA
Abbas (as), the one who did not return from the river
The sadaat never atained serenity again
TUKRE HUWE LAASHO PE BUKAA KARTI THI ZEHRA (sa)
ABBAS (as) KE BAAZU HAY YEH SHABIR (as) KA SEENA
YAK JA KOI LAASHA BHI ZAMEEN PAR NAHI AAYA
Zahra (sa) laments over the severed bodies
Abbas’ (as) arms and Shabir’s (as) chest
Not one body hit the ground unsevered
HAR BIBI KO EK AAS THI ABBAS (as) KE DUM SE
LIPTI HUWI ZAINAB (sa) YEHI KEHTI THI ALAM SE
MAQTAL SE MERA ZAAMINE CHAADAR NAHI AAYA
Every Bibi had hope with Abbas’ (as) breath
This is what Zainab (sa) said while clasping the Alam
The defender of my veil never returned from the battlefield
JAB MAARE GAYE HAYE SAKINA (sa) KO TAMACHE
ROTI RAHI WO HAATHO SE CHEREH KO CHUPAKE
BEHLANEH KOI MOONISO YAWAR NAHI AAYA
The moment when Sakina (sa) was slapped
She cried whilst hiding her face with her hands
No sympathiser nor protector came to console her
JAB SHAAMEH ALAM AA GAYI KOHRAAM BAPA THA
JALTE HUWE KHAIMO KA DHUWAA DUNDH RAHA THA
SAQQA E HARAM SANI E HAIDER NAHI AAYA
When the night of woes befell, there was pandemonium
Smoke from the burning tents was searching
The water fetcher of the camp, the second Haider didn’t return
ABBAS (as) KA SAR NEZE PE RUKH TA HI NAHI THA
JAB SHAAM KI RAAHO MEI SADAA DETI SAKINA (sa)
JAB KEHTI THI ZAINAB (sa) KE BIRAADAR NAHI AAYA
Abbas’ (as) head would not remain upon the spear
When Sakina (sa) cried out on the journey to Shaam
And when Zainab (sa) said O my brother never returned
GHASH KHAA KE GIREH QABRE SAKINA (sa) PE JO SAJJAD (as)
KARTI THI LARAZ TI HUWI ZANJEER YE FARYAAD
GHUM KONSA MAULA TERE DIL PAR NAHI AAYA
Sajjad (as) fainted as he fell on to Sakina’s (sa) grave
The trembling shackles of Sajjad (as) cried aloud
Which pain is there that has not befallen your heart
AB TAK HAY SAMAR KARBOBALA KA YAHI NAUHA
SAAHIL PE TARAPTA RAHA ABBAS (as) KA LAASHA
PHIR HASHMI METAAB UFAQ PAR NAHI AAYA
Till today SAMAR this is the lamentation of Karbala
Abbas’ (as) torso remained trembling by the river
No Hashemite moon ever rose to the night skies again
ABBAS (as) JO DARIYA SE PALAT KAR NAHI AAYA
